After the last run in w/ Captain Serious and Co didja really think we would pull this 2 points without a fight? Really? wth were you smokin? Or maybe you were just breathin in the smoke from McGrattan? Way to set the tone MackDaddy…no one was worried about you and you did exactly jack shit. C’mon, Hanzal fought (well Toews and Hanzal isn’t really a fight but at least they tried)… Olli frickin Jokinen went with Fraser (funniest part of that one was watchin Doaner yellin from the bench eggin him on).But there was no tone set in this game as promised.
Actually this was a good game except the opening 10 minutes or so. We were flat and freaked out and it showed. Speakin of smokin funny crap, what the hell was up with the refs tonight? Jaysus! Jovo goes down (writhin on the ice like a molting snake) and we have possesion of the puck and there’s no damn whistle? Kane goes through the space where JV shoulda been after pickin our pocket and scores? WTF? was that?
We came out for the second much better and (You knew this was comin so don’t bitch about it)… MY BOY WAS AN ANIMAL!!!! Zbyneck Michalek!!!! most defensive bang for the buck that this team has. The boy went apeshit tonight. I am soooo proud. leadin the league in blocked shots, had 5 sogs on the night and more importantly, put up the prettiest one timer to get us into the game. You go baby boy!
The third was confident and tenacious, they had me convinced they were finally gonna put this baby to bed. Doaner picked up a goal in his 900th game! to tie it up. The Kaner goes down after Marty hammers him and he got clipped in the head by Tiki’s skate… scary moment. We had many chances but just couldn’t put this thing to bed. So off to OT with all the momentum and urgency.
The OT was goin our way, it was just a matter of time, until…well, lets just say Jovo is probably still kickin his own butt for gettin popped for that high stick. The PK seemed to last FOREVER. But we killed that sucker DED!
The SO was pathetic. Bryz looked like he was past his bedtime. The effort on both those shots looked like… well like I was playin goal. Both shooters came straight in and used basic shots, nothin fancy, just plain ol fashioned markers… in a game Breezy stones those with ease. ughh just pitiful. But what I really don’t get is how come we didn’t choose to go first? Put the onus on the other goalie to stop that first attack, if we score, the other team has head issues tryin to even up, if we don’t, Breezy hunkers down cuz he knows it rests on his shoulders. Seemes like a no brainer.
And in a SO don’t you use your money shooters? Olli (cuz Khabby hasn’t seen him regularly and the big guy can really nail a net)then I woulda let Bods loose in there for sure cuz he’s got plenty of moves I bet he’s dying to get out and the kill shot would be Doaner. Then if ya gotta go more, Mueller (who has been decent in the past) and maybe KT (who marked one last season), after that its pretty much a crap shoot. I was disappointed to say the least.
So we lose in the shootout… we still grabbed a point and thats better than nothing.
