Guess I won’t have to put Versteeg on my slap this bitch list. The NHL did it for me… slapped that lil bitch that is. Versteeg gets the fine and the suspension and the really laughable part is… he says KT challenged him to fight! What a joke this kid is… Own yer error dude…all buck20lbs of Kyle Turris couldn’t have hurt you, game was over, what was the point?

passports 08 pool sharks by you.
I really thought Gretzky was gonna blow a serious gasket… we’ve seen him pissed before but never like last night… and go to YotesTV and hear what Doaner has to say about it… Hey! Coach Q… better start thinkin about Verpiggy bein a healthy scratch next Yotes game…

carcillo, doaner, demo and prolly a couple others were taking names and numbers there….his AHC sorry butt is grass and we got some 20hp weedwackers waitin’ for him

  2. Onyx Says:

Its quite sad… just got done watching the events leading up to the altercation. Been listening to a Hawk’s fan ‘defend Versteeg as protecting his goalie from cheap shot’ half the night… thing is… KT wasn’t the one ‘pokin’ Huet…

Versteeg has got one hell of an asswhippin comin… and he went after the wrong Coyote in the first place…

damn shame to earn a beatdown not only for goonery… but for stupidity too.

wonder who will get to him first?

  3. Hawksterminator Says:

It’s better Coach G makes sure Turrpiggy ain’t gonna play on January 6. Anyway, what seems to be a problem? It was just a scramble and Versteeg happen to kick Turris’ butt. OK, I might agree on Versteeg’s suspension for instigating the fight in the last 5 minutes according to the book. But come on, this is hockey and such fights happen very often. But yea, you got blown 7-1 and lost fights, I understand and sympathize with that but there is no need to make Versteeg guilty for your loss. Don’t be jackals and have a look at that scramble again.

You better put the officials on your slap this bitch list for the circus in the end of the game and start thinking of firing your beloved coach. Gretzky might be a successful player but as a coach he’s just ignorant and a cry-babe every time Coyotes lose. And there is no respect to him after he humiliated Bryzgalov. He had to be pulled after 3rd goal.

  4. Onyx Says:

…Of course Versteeg isn’t responsible for the blow out… he’s not THAT good. We killed ourselves. We were not prepared (coaches fault) We did not come to play (team’s fault) Bryz is a head case right now (his own fault AND the coach’s fault). Honey if I play that clip again it will melt from over use. Lisin was the one pokin at yer goalie… Sopel shoved him around but didn’t go WWF… Z jumped in w/ him (protecting Lisin) and Sopes got the rough… Versteeg swaggered into the fray on KT (gloves and visor on and threw not 1 but 2 punches while wearing both) that alone makes him a BitchSlap candidate. The tape clearly shows Versteeg punch KT while both players’ gloves are still on. After that, Versteeg dropped his gloves, and started punching KT in earnest before Kyle dropped his gloves and defended himself against the attack. THAT is classic instigator. Whether you are a Hawk’s fan or any other fan, its an instigator and Colin Campbell made the right decision to suspend Versteeg.

And to all of those who say Versteeg isn’t much of a fighter? 2007-08 Rockford IceHogs AHL 56 games played 174 PIMs… umm pretty sure he did’nt get those PIMS 2 minutes at a time for puck over glass or something. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=00069003 VS Turris 38 last year http://www.collegehockeynews.com/players/?pd=24795

There are a couple of officials who LIVE on my list. Jeebus! just when you think those clowns can’t get any worse, they invent new ways to screw up my beloved NHL. So yeah… totally feel you on that comment. But to call Gretzky an ignorant cry baby? Everytime we lose? Oh man are you reachin… usually TGO gives the other team kudos for their play, admits that we were outworked or whatever and moves on. We hate it that he is so brutally honest and classy about it. During the games he can appear overwrought at times (ok ok he loses his freakin mind and looks like he’s strokin out LOL)… but thats usually at our own stupidity or the aforemention assclowns wearing stripes. He’s been on the list a couple times too, actually.

As for humiliating Breezy? He didn’t humiliate Bryz… the boy did that to hisself… Telly was hurt… if Breezy lets in 7 on 11 shots, why should Telly (risk injuring himself more) and reap the ass end loss on his record. I DO fault the coaching staff for not bringin up a spare goalie to CHI if they knew Telly was hurt… and no, Bryz shouldn’t have been pulled after the 3rd goal… he never shoulda started that game in the first place.

But hey… thanks for stopping by and defending your point of view, misguided and uninformed as it is. I do soooo enjoy a good laugh at other people’s expense. If you see Versteeg, just make sure he knows to keep his head on a swivel in Jobing.com arena.

  5. ChicagoKill Says:

Versteeg had 5 fights in the AHL in the 07-08 season.. so he’s not a stranger to fighting but he certainly doesn’t make a living off it. Versteeg is also the second smallest guy on our team and is actually smaller than Turris. So it’s not like the Hawks sent Burish or Eager after KT.

Versteeg did over-react – but I don’t fully believe Turris didn’t ask for a fight. Gretzky is a whiner though…

  6. Onyx Says:

Ooookay… it was 6 actually… and the other 145 PIMS were for slashing, boarding, roughing and misconducts… a goodly portion of them in the waning minutes of the third period… his size isn’t the issue here, his intent and methodology are definitely suspect though… actually lets see… he’s shorter than KT but older and has more experience with fighting so lets call it a draw and say 2 lightweights went at it… but lets also admit Versteeg was an idiot if not a total assclown for HOW this went down. You can believe what you want… but this is NOT a fair fight… now, IF Steeg drops and squares… OR… backs off when Turris doesn’t throw a single punch after being tagged 3 times… (justify all you want… the clip doesn’t lie… Versteeg…gloves on/visor on/throws unanswered punchs)…You might be able to call it fair. But no way did Turris ASK for any of that kind of douchebaggery…even if by some stretch of the imagination he asked for a ‘fight’

All NHL coaches whine at various points of most games, I guess TGO is just as world class at it as he was a player.

  7. C13 Says:

At what point in this post did you blame that loss on that fight? Seriously? Onyx is wayyyyyyyyyy to intelligent for that BS.

  8. Hawksterminator Says:

Dear, Onyx, don’t get me wrong, I agree with Versteeg being suspended. The rules say so and the tape shows him starting the fight. But from the moral point of view what was the point for him to start fighting if the Blackhawks were winning and a few seconds remained on the clock? I don’t think he would want to miss a game without any reason. Why don’t you think Turris said nothing to provoke him? Here someone pokes your goalie after the whistle, there is a scramble and you know the rest. So what if Versteeg had 174 PIMs playing for Rockford? Is your case based only on the video and statistics? I’m sure there is more to that fight. But wait, if Turris kicked shit out of Versteeg then there would be no fire, right? Since the NHL suspended Avery for 6 games for a verbal comment(what a joke!), why don’t they wire all the players as some broadcasting companies do during the games, so they and we could hear what players say? Why Lisin hasn’t been suspending for jabbing Huet? Or it is ok to jab a goalie after a whistle? I don’t see any balance in punishment.

I learned about your goalie situation only from you. I watched the game and then listed to the Blackhawks post-game show on the radio and in both cases broadcasters in Chicago were confused why Bryzgalov wasn’t pulled. I remember they showed your another goalie(don’t remember the name) after 2nd or 3rd goal and it looked like he was about to play but no, Bryz remained in the net. Someone suggested that Gretzky was trying to prove something to Bryzgalov. Nobody knew your another goalie was injured even an hour after the game. And how come there was no backup goalie? What if Bryz got injured during the game? Who would be between the pipes then?

I didn’t mean to insult your coach. My comment was based on my observations from the Yotes games and Gretzky’s comments in the media. Obviously he gets more attention than any other coach and they usually show him being frustrated at referees and players of the opposite team. OK, maybe he’s not ignorant and he is not a cry baby but he definitely likes to dramatize a lot.

I love Arizona, I love Phoenix, I am a Suns fan and I did want the Coyotes to make the playoffs… until I read lots of comments from Yotes fans after the game. Well, maybe I’ll change my mind again?

By the way I told Versteeg about your advise and he said if some folks remind him of the fight with Turris on January 6, he’ll make sure Jobing.com will turn into Unemployed.coma. It seems you are right, he’s bad to the bone.

Anyway, I’m tired of arguing. Gotta go to prepare for another game as the Senators are coming to town. Good luck against the Stars tonight and take care.

  9. Hawksterminator Says:

By the by, Turris is 6′ 1″, 180 lbs and Versteeg is 5′ 10″ and 180 lbs. So, both have the same weight. I would understand your point if Byfuglien with his 247 lbs started a fight with Turris.

  10. onyx_starr Says:

    Hey Hawk,

We both agree that the suspension was valid. I have no idea why Steeg would even bother, even if KT asked him to go. Srsly… he shoulda laughed in KTs face at that point. Really, a simple shove and go away lil man, we just skinned your team, woulda been much more appropriate. IF KT was really trin to go there.

For the record, I have no problem w/ 2 light weights engaging and KT was due to go soon (and I’m damn glad it wasn’t w/ someone like Buffy… who might have eaten the kid after the beating) I was pissed about the situation more than the fight. I am a helmets/gloves off, get at it kinda girl I guess. It just seemed shoddy of Steeg. (also for the record I was impressed by him last season, he and Buffy are going to be pretty special even in the shadow of Kaner and Capt Serious). But I have to say Steeg’s record with the Icehogs showed a propensity to engage in fights/roughing etc late in games. I can only go by the stats, videos and history since I didn’t follow Kris like I do my own guys. Compared to some of Kris’ history KT is a choirboy. (whats a girl to base an opinion on except the recorded deeds?)

Unfortunately there is no rule to auto suspend a player for a late whack at a goalie. But if there were I would totally support Envy gettin his just desserts. I’m not blind to my team’s faults. What Enver did was wrong, not suspendable though and if a Hawk had jumped HIS ass for it I prolly woulda been pissy about it but tempered my reaction w/ a healthy dose of umm-hmm-thats-what-he-gets for being a lil weasel. KT was not the violator, no reason to jump him for another’s misdeed.

Yeah I was pretty pissed at the lack of foresight from the coaching staff too. But it may have been that Bryz was taking his situation/performance too lightly and indeed Wayne was letting him take his medicine with that beating… Indeed the entire team may have been getting a lesson from TGO about playing FOR each other and not as a motley collection of sorry assed individuals. IDK, I’ll have to ask him when I get the chance. Telly could have gone in…but playin him might have exacerbated a mild foot bruise… if the situation had been a tight game or play off berth or something, it would have been worth the risk. Risking Tellqvist to dig Breezy out of the hole he dug for himself…not worth it in the long run. Apparently the lesson or whatever, lit a fire under the big guy AND his teammates, cuz we just got done whippin the Stars.

As far as Wayne is concerned, I don’t mind the insults, hell, I insult him myself (please don’t tell him I posted a pic of him as the turd from Weird Science). Yes he’s emotional, and yeah he bitches a lot, but ignorant he’s not. I just hate the generalizations, he’s classy in defeat, he gave your boys their props. But if anyone calls him out.. give specifics and, hell, I might even agree with some of it. But he’s mine and I defend my own when I feel they are being wronged.

LOL Yotes fans… yeah we’re different all right. We’re all high drama and pisstivity when we feel like we’ve been done wrong. I don’t personally believe in goin around to other teams boards/blogs, whatever and gettin all drama queen, hell, part of the reason I have THIS sucker is so I can bitch all I want. So I hope you understand when someone comes to my house and gets in my face…well… I never did learn to play nice or share n shit, so… I get a wee bit hostile sometimes, don’t let a few knuckleheads sour you on Phoenix…we need all the well wishing we can get to even sniff a playoff berth this season.

Tell Steeg, nice come back! LOL but to save his energy to beat the shit out of the Wings (and their fans if he can manage to get to them where no one will see him)…and any stray Ducks too. And while I really don’t wish any thing bad to befall Steeger or any NHLer (well , the exception would be Sean Avery)… Your team would also be headhunting anyone who took after Kaner/Toews too… hence the warning…its the natural reaction of any teammates who play FOR each other.

Take care…and good luck going forward… we’ll talk again after the next Hawks VS Yotes … more civilly I hope.
